Now that winter is upon us, we (dry skin sufferers) need to really act quickly to avoid itchy red, dry skin.
I myself am guilty of putting it off, only to find myself taking a bristle brush to my leg just to scratch..OUCH!!
So, just a reminder of some tips for dry skin this winter.
1- Avoid HOT baths at all cost, this will definitely dry you out. An exception would be a warm bath with bath salts...(soothing).
2- Use gentle soothing soaps.. Urban City Organics has many wonderful soaps that are IDEAL for this.
3- Moisturize immediately upon finishing your bath or shower...your pores are still open and will absorb the moisturizers.
4- Lotion or creme?? Lotions are much lighter and are a great option for daytime use, HOWEVER, cremes are more hydrating. Cremes are usually pretty thick and most people prefer to use them at night so they can soak in and provide optimum benefit.
5- Remember HVAC and AC's can be drying! You may not have made a note of it but they DO dry us out.
6- If you require any special skin medications be sure to apply them before you moisturize. You want your skin to absorb those medications first.
Soon we will be looking forward to spring and better days ahead, but until then, these tips will help keep your skin a bit more supple.
